What's New at General Stewart Branch No. 4

Rededication ceremony for Immortal Flame

More than 50 years after first being lit, a rededication ceremony has brought a new sense of purpose to the Immortal Flame at the entrance to Mountain View Cemetery.

Representatives from the General Stewart Branch of the Legion, Lethbridge's Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans club, current military personnel, ATCO, different levels of government, and local schools were on hand Sept. 12, 2017, for the ceremony.

The actual lighting of the torch had to be delayed to another date due to the local fire ban in place at the time of the ceremony.

President Kent Perry spoke on behalf of the Legion. Vice-President Michael Cormican was on hand for the trumpeting of Last Post and Rouse (Reveille). Helping the unveiling of the plaque was Pat MacIntosh, chair of the Legion's Poppy Fund. And member Glenn Miller served as the master of ceremonies for the event.
